What is Voltage Nexus?

Voltage Nexus is a decentralized infrastructure platform. We build and operate smart kiosks that do two things: rent portable batteries to the public, and display digital advertising on-screen at the point of use. What makes the model decentralized is who owns the hardware. Rather than a single company financing and deploying a fleet, individual Infrastructure Partners purchase kiosks, place them in venues they source, and participate in the revenue those specific kiosks produce. Voltage Nexus builds the hardware, runs the software, monitors the network, handles customer service, and manages the advertising marketplace. Partners own the machines and own the venue relationships. The result is a network that grows through many hands instead of one balance sheet — and a hardware footprint that can carry more than batteries as the platform matures.

Who is Voltage Nexus for?

Accepted Answer

Three groups: The public — anyone who needs a charge and doesn't want to sit next to an outlet to get one. Venues — bars, restaurants, entertainment venues, event spaces, gyms, salons, and any location where people stay long enough to need power. Venues host kiosks at no cost. Infrastructure Partners — people who purchase kiosks, place them, and participate in the revenue those kiosks generate.

What does "decentralized infrastructure" actually mean here?

It means the network is owned in pieces, not centrally. Every kiosk on the map has an owner. That owner has a real economic reason to keep it in a good location, keep the venue relationship healthy, and keep it producing. Centralized fleets don't have that — one operations team is stretched across every machine, and the machines that underperform tend to stay that way. It also means the physical footprint is a platform, not a product. See the communications question in Section 7.

Where are kiosks located?

Accepted Answer

Anywhere a partner places one. Typical venues are bars, restaurants, breweries, music venues, event spaces, festivals, sports venues, casinos, hotels, gyms, salons, and conference centers. The network map lives in the app and in the partner dashboard, and it grows as partners deploy.

Is Voltage Nexus available outside the United States?

Not at launch. Voltage Nexus is currently a United States network.

Question 6

How do battery rentals work?

Accepted Answer

Scan the QR code on the kiosk, pay through Stripe, and a charged battery releases. Take it with you. When you're finished, return it to any kiosk in the Voltage Nexus network — not just the one you rented from. Rental rate $4.00 per hour. Maximum charge $50.00 if not returned within 24 hours. Once the $50 maximum is reached, the battery is yours. No further charges accrue, and no additional charge is made if you never bring it back.

Is there an app?

Yes — a Voltage Nexus app for locating kiosks near you is on the way. You won't need it to rent, though. The QR code on the kiosk opens checkout right in your browser: no download, no account, no signup.

Question 8

What kind of mobile devices and phones do the batteries charge?

Accepted Answer

Voltage Nexus batteries carry integrated cables covering the major connector types, so you don't need to bring a cable of your own. Phones, tablets, earbuds, and most USB-powered devices all work. A battery reaches a full charge in about 90 minutes in the kiosk.

What if I can't find a kiosk to return the battery to?

You can always bring it back to the kiosk you rented it from — that one is guaranteed to be there. Beyond that, the app and the kiosk map show every active location in the network, and any of them will take it. If you're outside the network's footprint entirely, you can simply hold the battery. Charges accrue until the $50 maximum, at which point they stop permanently. There is no penalty beyond that cap and no collections process.

The battery I rented doesn't work. What now?

Email support@voltagenexus.com and we'll make it right. Don't go through the venue — they don't operate the kiosk and can't process a refund. Support is handled by Voltage Nexus directly.

Is my payment information safe?

Rental payments are processed by Stripe. Voltage Nexus never sees or stores your full card number.

What does an Infrastructure Partner do?

Partners purchase kiosks, place them in venues they source, and participate in the rental and advertising revenue generated by the kiosks attributed to them. The partner's job is the physical and relational side: Choose good locations, Get the kiosk installed, Keep the venue relationship healthy, Swap or restock batteries as needed. Voltage Nexus handles the rest — software, payment processing, kiosk monitoring, customer service, remote updates, the advertising marketplace, ad approval, and revenue accounting.

Do I own the kiosk?

Yes. You purchase it, you hold title to it, and it is your equipment. Voltage Nexus operates the software layer and the network; the machine is yours.

Kiosk: Contact us for current pricing. Software access: $5 per kiosk, per month. Venue placement fee: $0 — venues host at no charge. Franchise fee: None. This is not a franchise. Required inventory purchase: None. Recurring purchase requirement: None.

Question 15

Do I have to buy anything to participate?

Accepted Answer

No. Nothing. There is no buy-in, no starter kit, no qualifying order, no minimum purchase, and no recurring purchase requirement. You can become an Infrastructure Partner, sell kiosks, and earn — without ever purchasing a kiosk yourself. That is deliberate. Someone who can't afford a kiosk today shouldn't be locked out of building a business, and we're not going to gate participation behind a check. Buy ten kiosks, buy one, or buy none: how you participate is your decision, not ours.

Is there a minimum order?

No. Purchase a single kiosk, purchase a package, or purchase none at all. The one thing worth understanding: a kiosk only earns when it's deployed. It produces nothing sitting in a garage. There's no such thing as stocking up on inventory here — the machine has to be in a venue, plugged in, with people using it, or it makes no money for anyone. That's why we pay on production rather than on purchases.

Is there a monthly cost?

Yes — $5 per kiosk, per month for software access. This covers your dashboard, kiosk management and monitoring, telemetry, cellular connectivity, customer support for your renters, hosting, and ongoing software updates. It is an infrastructure fee tied to running your machines, not a membership fee. It scales with what you own: one kiosk, $5. Ten kiosks, $50. A 30-day grace period applies if a payment lapses. During the grace period your kiosks continue to operate normally.

What happens after the grace period expires?

If the account remains past due after 30 days: Dashboard access is suspended. Email notification is sent that payment is behind. The kiosk may be disabled at the company's sole discretion. Revenue is held until the account is brought current. Nothing is forfeited. Revenue you've earned is held, not lost, and is released when payment is current.

Can I finance a kiosk?

Financing may be available, but Voltage Nexus does not provide it. Voltage Nexus does not lend, does not extend credit, does not arrange credit, and makes no credit decisions of any kind. We maintain relationships with third-party equipment financing companies that may be willing to finance kiosk purchases, including bulk purchases, and we can point you toward them. Any financing arrangement is strictly between you and the lender. They set the terms, they make the approval decision, they set the rate, and they collect the payments. Voltage Nexus is not a party to that agreement, receives no compensation contingent on your approval, and guarantees nothing about it. Nothing on this page or anywhere on this site is an offer of credit or a solicitation of credit. If you finance kiosks, understand plainly: your loan payments are owed whether or not your kiosks produce any revenue.

How long until I receive my kiosk?

Typically within 30 days of purchase. Times may be shorter or longer depending on current inventory and manufacturing status.

Can I return a kiosk?

Accepted Answer

All kiosk purchases are final. Every kiosk carries a 3-year warranty against manufacturer defects. If a kiosk fails due to a defect within that period, we replace the unit at no cost — the partner covers shipping only.

Do I have to sell to anyone or recruit anyone?

Accepted Answer

No. A partner can buy kiosks, place them, and never speak to another partner. Placement and operation is the entire business. There is a partner referral component for those who want it — see Section 5.

What does it cost a venue to host a kiosk?

Nothing. No purchase, no lease, no monthly fee.

What does the venue have to do?

Accepted Answer

Provide a spot with an available power outlet and let the kiosk sit there. That's it. The venue does not handle payments, does not troubleshoot, and does not deal with customer complaints — all of that runs through Voltage Nexus and the partner who placed the machine. The one thing that varies by location is battery restocking. Some venues are happy to receive drop-shipped batteries and have staff restock the kiosk; others aren't. That's worked out directly between the venue and the partner, venue by venue.

What does the venue get out of it?

Two things. A free amenity. A dead phone is a reason to leave. A charged one isn't. Guests stay longer, and it costs the venue nothing. A free ad spot. Every kiosk screen carries a reserved advertising slot for the venue that hosts it — use it for happy hour, live music, specials, whatever you want to put in front of people already standing in your building.

Can a venue earn revenue from the kiosk?

Only by owning it. A venue that purchases its own kiosk becomes an Infrastructure Partner and participates in that kiosk's revenue at the standard partner rate (40% of rental and advertising revenue). The partner who sold it earns the standard 12% production override on it. Venues that simply host a partner's kiosk do not receive a revenue share.

What are the power and connectivity requirements?

Almost none, and that's the point. Power: the kiosk plugs into a standard wall outlet. It draws power like an ordinary small appliance — a coffee maker, a countertop display. There's nothing to install, nothing to wire, and no electrician involved. Connectivity: every kiosk ships with cellular connectivity built in — a SIM card is installed in the unit. It can connect over the venue's WiFi, but it doesn't need to. No IT involvement, no network access, no passwords, no help from your staff. You give it an outlet; it handles the rest.

What if the venue closes or asks us to remove it?

You own the kiosk. Pull it and place it somewhere else. Voltage Nexus re-attributes it to the new location in the system. There is no penalty for relocating and no limit on how many times you do it.

What are the ways a partner earns?

Accepted Answer

Four. Voltage Nexus pays no compensation for recruiting or enrolling anyone. Every dollar is paid either on the sale of a real product, or on the revenue that product generates from the public. Rental revenue share: 40% of the rental revenue produced by the kiosks attributed to you. Advertising revenue share: 40% of the advertising revenue produced by the kiosks attributed to you. Personal sale commission: $150 when you personally sell a kiosk to a new partner. Production override: 12% of the production (rental and advertising revenue) from kiosks deployed by partners you personally enrolled.

What is the production override?

If you personally enroll another partner, you earn 12% of the production generated by the kiosks that partner actually deploys and operates. It is a single level — you earn on the partners you personally brought in, and no further. The override is paid on production, not on enrollment. If a partner you enrolled buys ten kiosks and leaves them in a closet, the override on those kiosks is zero, because zero revenue was produced. You are paid when machines work, not when people sign. What Voltage Nexus does not pay for: Recruiting or signing anyone up. Reaching a rank or a title. Buying inventory you don't deploy. Any level beyond the partners you personally enroll — there is only one.

Is this a pyramid scheme?

Accepted Answer

No. A pyramid scheme pays people for recruiting other people. Voltage Nexus does not pay a dollar for recruitment. Every dollar the platform pays out is downstream of a member of the public tapping a QR code and paying for a battery, or an advertiser paying to run a campaign. The distinction is structural, not a matter of wording: There is no buy-in. Nothing is required to participate. No kit, no qualifying order, no minimum purchase, no pay-to-play. There is one override level. You earn on the partners you personally enroll, and no further. The override pays on production, not enrollment. Kiosks that don't get deployed pay nobody anything. A kiosk cannot be consumed. It is not a product you can stockpile or use up. It earns only when it's sitting in a venue and members of the public are paying to use it. There is no way to load anyone up with inventory, because inventory that isn't deployed is worth exactly zero to everyone involved. There is no rank structure, and nothing you must buy to stay qualified beyond the $5/kiosk software fee that runs your own machines.

How and when do partners get paid?

Every Friday, for commissions earned during the prior week, on a one-week delay. Example: revenue and commissions earned Friday, July 10 through Thursday, July 16 are paid on Friday, July 24. This applies to everything — rental revenue share, advertising revenue share, personal sale commissions, and production overrides.

Will I receive a 1099?

Yes. Voltage Nexus issues a 1099 for all earned income. Partners are independent business owners, not employees. Reporting and paying taxes on that income is the partner's responsibility, not Voltage Nexus's. Consult your own tax professional.

Do you guarantee earnings?

No. Revenue participation depends on real activity at your kiosks. Location, foot traffic, venue type, seasonality, how many machines you deploy, how well you maintain your venue relationships, and how the advertising market performs all affect the outcome. Some partners will do well. Some will not. Some will lose the money they put in. We do not promise income, ROI, or passive earnings. Any figure you see in a calculator, model, or presentation is an illustration of how the math works — not a projection of what you will earn.

What about the income calculator on the site?

It is a modeling tool. You put assumptions in, it shows what those assumptions produce. It is arithmetic, not a forecast. Change the assumptions and the answer changes — which is exactly the point. It is not a representation of typical or expected results.

Who can advertise on the kiosks?

Accepted Answer

Local businesses, regional brands, event promoters, and national advertisers can purchase campaigns that run on kiosk screens. The advertising network is live from the moment a kiosk is deployed — though a live kiosk does not mean every ad slot is sold. Ad inventory fills as advertisers buy it.

How does the ad rotation work?

Each kiosk screen runs a rotating loop of eleven 8-second spots. Two of those eleven are reserved and free: One for the venue — happy hour, live music, specials, anything they want in front of the people standing in their building. One for the partner — your contact information. Other business owners see the charging station, and that's how they find you. It is the quietest and most durable growth channel in the network. The remaining spots are sold through the advertising marketplace.

How long does ad approval take?

Up to 48 hours. Every campaign is reviewed by Voltage Nexus for policy compliance before it goes live anywhere on the network — content, legality, and fit. Nothing runs on a partner's kiosk, in a partner's venue, without passing that review.

What kinds of ads are prohibited?

Accepted Answer

At minimum: adult content, illegal products or services, weapons, tobacco and vape, gambling where prohibited, deceptive or misleading claims, income-opportunity and get-rich-quick offers, and anything a venue has specifically excluded. Full details are in the Voltage Nexus Advertising Policy.

Can a venue refuse a particular advertiser?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A venue can veto an advertiser on the kiosk in their building — a direct competitor being the obvious case. The kiosk is a guest in their house, and it behaves like one.

Can a partner sell ads on their own kiosks?

Accepted Answer

Yes. If you bring an advertiser to your own kiosks, you earn the same 40% advertising revenue share on that campaign. All ads still pass through Voltage Nexus policy review before they run.

Question 42

Does the kiosk require maintenance?

Accepted Answer

The only scheduled maintenance is software, and Voltage Nexus pushes those updates remotely. You never touch it. The physical side is minimal but it is not zero. Batteries need restocking, and how that happens depends on the venue: If the venue accepts drop shipments, batteries ship directly to the location and venue staff restock the kiosk. If the venue won't, the partner restocks it. That's negotiated between the partner and the venue, kiosk by kiosk. Know which arrangement you have before you sign a location.

Is there a warranty on the kiosk?

Yes. Every kiosk carries a 3-year warranty against manufacturer defects. If your kiosk fails due to a defect within that window, we send you a brand new kiosk. The partner is responsible only for shipping cost. The warranty does not cover damage caused by negligence, misuse, abuse, vandalism, or improper handling.

What happens if someone steals a battery?

Voltage Nexus batteries can only be recharged inside a kiosk, which makes them close to worthless to anyone who takes one and doesn't bring it back. That design is intentional, and it's why theft is rare. If a battery is stolen anyway, Voltage Nexus replaces it free of charge. The replacement ships directly to you or to your venue, whichever you prefer. Your kiosk keeps operating on its remaining batteries in the meantime.

What happens if the whole kiosk is stolen or vandalized?

A stolen or vandalized kiosk is the partner's responsibility. It is your equipment, and the manufacturer's warranty covers defects — not theft, not vandalism, not damage. This is why we strongly recommend insuring your kiosks.

Should I insure my kiosks?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and we'd tell you the same about any business asset you own. Talk to a local commercial insurance agent about covering your kiosks against theft and vandalism, with a deductible that makes sense for you. Insurance is a partner responsibility and Voltage Nexus does not provide, arrange, or recommend any specific carrier. It's inexpensive relative to the asset, and the partners who skip it are the ones who regret it.

As a partner, do I handle my own customer service?

No. Voltage Nexus handles all customer service inquiries — rental issues, payment questions, battery problems, refunds, all of it. You are not a support desk. If a venue raises an issue with the machine itself, that's yours as the equipment owner. The renters are ours.

Every partner has a dashboard showing kiosk status, rental activity, revenue, and battery inventory across every machine attributed to them, updated in near real time.

How do kiosks connect?

Every kiosk connects over 4G and Wi-Fi. Cellular connectivity is built in with a SIM card installed in the unit, and the kiosk can also use the venue's Wi-Fi. Connectivity, battery availability, rentals and fleet health are monitored in real time through Voltage Nexus.

Is a kiosk an investment?

Accepted Answer

No. A kiosk is a piece of revenue-producing equipment. Voltage Nexus is not offering, and does not offer, a security, an investment contract, or an interest in the profits of the company. What you purchase is a machine. You own it. You decide where it goes. You source and hold the venue relationship. You can remove it, relocate it, or sell it. Whether it produces anything depends on decisions you make and work you do — which location you choose, which venue you sign, how you maintain the relationship, and how you handle restocking. Voltage Nexus provides the software and operating layer. It does not choose your venue for you, and it does not produce revenue for you. If you're looking for something that pays you without your involvement, this is not that, and you should not buy a kiosk.

Is this a franchise?

No. There is no franchise fee, no territory grant, no required buildout, and no operating system you're licensed to run. You purchase equipment and operate it as your own business.

Am I an employee or a contractor of Voltage Nexus?

Neither. Infrastructure Partners are independent business owners. You set your own hours, choose your own venues, and bear your own costs and risks. Voltage Nexus does not control how you operate.
